Cry It Out Recovery
The Intention Of This Site
Copyright Cry It Out Recovery © 2007-2008
This site has been created to help people, like myself, who have been damaged by the Cry It Out (CIO)
method of sleep training or those who’s parents held the belief that if you pick up a baby when it cries that
you’ll spoil it and they were left to “crying it out” (CIO). For ease of writing, I will use CIO to describe both of
these methods.

This site does not support one sleep training method over another nor does it provide any type of
guidance when it comes to raising children. This site is strictly a healing resource for those of us whose
lives have been negatively impacted by CIO.

It’s important to note that this site is not here to blame anyone or any parent for having used these
methods. More than likely, our parents were subjected to the same methods and may indeed have their
own emotional scars that they’re contending with and those that may not have been subjected to these
methods may have been encouraged to use them by a well meaning friend or family member.

The important thing to remember is that the information on this site is intended to help us heal and lead
emotionally mature and healthy lives. It is my hope that when you read this information and happen to find
any of the symptoms applying to you that you realize simply accepting things as “that’s the way it is” is not
something that you “have” to do. You can recover if that is what you choose to do. Realize that you can
indeed live a life free of the pain, sadness, and dysfunctional behavior patterns that come from the
damage caused by CIO.

This site is also intended to provide some possible answers to certain behaviors we see in society
today.  Through these answers, hopefully we can all grow and have a greater understanding and
appreciation of ourselves and those around us.

This site is also intended to provide new insights in behavior research as well as dependency recovery.
