Shaking Deaths and Shaken Baby Syndrome
Shaken baby syndrome is a form of child abuse that takes place much too often. According to USA Today,
in 2006 there were an estimated 1500 shaken baby cases reported in the United States alone. This doesn’
t take into account other countries where this may occur.

One of the effects of CIO that I personally experienced was not being able to stand to hear a baby cry. I didn’
t know what it was that I was feeling, but I felt my muscles tense and could feel my blood pressure rising.
The sound of a baby crying was like nails on a chalk board to me.

What I now realize is that I was reacting to the trauma caused by CIO. The sound of a baby crying back then
caused me to unknowingly revert back to infancy when I’d be laying in my crib terrified, screaming for my
mother. I am extremely happy that this no longer happens.

My theory is that parents, guardians, or baby sitters who have harmed an infant by shaking or other means
of abuse because the baby wouldn’t stop crying are also reverting unknowingly back to the trauma of CIO
and are losing control with the infant due to the stress that they themselves are now experiencing.

Please understand that this theory is information only, and I by no means am suggesting anything one way
or the other regarding these deaths and injuries. What I “am” suggesting is that we as a society (and that
includes every culture who believes in CIO) are setting people up from infancy to harm or kill another infant
when they get older. To a large extent the CIO methods are allowing us to destroy ourselves as a society
from the inside out.
